2017 Estate Witness Cabernet Sauvignon - John Szabo - Wine Align
"An attractive, dark fruit and minty-fresh herb scented cabernet sauvignon, immediately engaging on the nose. The palate is mid-weight, zesty, with fine, dusty tannins and brisk acids, and good length. A brisk and food-friendly wine all in all, for current enjoyment or short term hold."
2016 Estate Petit Verdot - Scored 90 Points by Michael Godel - Wine Align
"Only three barrels are made for Southbrook’s singular red varietal outlier and 2016 is surely a promising vintage for the solo pilot. Here we find well-developed and even evolved fruit meeting sharp acidity so in a sense it’s one of those wines that already shows its stripes and first stages of secondary time but will stay just that way because it’s structurally sound. Some may be put off by the drying and roasted fruit nature and others will relish the feeling of early maturity. Drink 2019-2022."
2017 Estate Merlot - Scored 90 Points by David Lawrason - Wine Align
"This has a fairly lifted, appealing, quite floral nose with some raspberry/cherry fruit plus generous oak resin, vanillin and spice. It is medium-full bodied, quite dense and juicy with plenty of fruit. There is some heat as well. Tannins are quite refined, the length is very good to excellent."
2017 Estate Winemaker's Red - Scored 90 Points by Michael Godel - Wine Align
"Less than 800 bottles are made of this merlot and cabernet sauvignon blend chosen from certain and specific barrels by winemaker Ann Sperling. This has wine club written all over the ideal, a red blend of the sort of specificity that would make a consumer feel like it was chosen for them. More about energy than barrel actually which is a great positive and less of a distraction. Good grip and structure though not the sort to make you wait... Drink 2019-2022."
