Intense dark plum, earthy aromas and baking spices on the nose. The palate is rich with black cherries, cassis, and ripe, smooth tannins that lead to a long finish. This wine is capable of aging well in a cellar and should develop well over 5-10 years.
Winemaker Notes
Hand harvested from Estate vineyard blocks 114, 116 & 113, including mature new and older renovated vine plantings. Clusters were sorted, and whole berries were fermented in micro-cuvee lots in open top New French oak barrels. Post-pressing these lots were returned to the barrels for aging. After 13 months of aging individual barrels were tasted, assessed, and blended. This wine was returned to neutral oak to marry for an additional 5 months of aging. Poetica is usually dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, but due to the 2019 vintage, the wine showed best with a majority of Merlot.
