2017 Estate Merlot
Hand harvested from our estate vineyard in Four Mile creek from old vines planted in 2004 and young vines planted in 2014. Micro cuvees were fermented wild in “open top barrels” and left on skins for 21 days reaching temperatures of 27 to 30 C for 12 hours at the peak of fermentation. After pressing the wines were returned to the same barrels with heads intact. These were aged for 18 months in 50% new oak and then selected barrels were blended to create this 100% Merlot, single vineyard varietal wine.
