The Hospitality Pavilion: An architectural vision takes root.

In 2005, Bill and Marilyn Redelmeier approached architect Jack Diamond with a challenge: Design us a world-class building that honours the vineyard and sits lightly on the land to house high-quality wine for a discerning clientele.

What Jack Diamond delivered was masterful, a combination of architectural vision and respect for the things that Bill and Marilyn hold dear. The basic facilities include the winery and a Hospitality Pavilion containing the Tasting Room, a sales area, and intimate and expansive hospitality areas. A covered patio area features a gas-fired pizza oven where guests can enjoy our seasonal Vineyard Bistro.

The Hospitality Pavilion is the perfect setting for a variety of "Group Experiences", from intimate private tastings for 10-12 friends, to hosting a private or corporate event, or celebrating a wedding. Learn more about Southbrook's Group Experiences.

The Gateway to Wine Country

The pavilion itself is a delicate glass structure set against a 200-metre long, three-metre high landscape wall. The wall marks the entrance to both the winery and — since we are a key landmark on Niagara Stone Road — to the Niagara-on-the-Lake wine district itself.

Coloured a periwinkle-blue against the green of the vines in summer and the white of winter’s snow, the wall anchors the light-filled pavilion in the landscape. Inside, it is punctuated by recessed wine displays, storage and a wine library, with full-height glass vaults containing aging barrels of wine. Finished with pigmented stucco, the wall colour changes with the day’s light — from deep blue and periwinkle to dove grey.

Sustainable design distinguishes this project. The building has received Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®)Gold certification. And that is just the start of an ever-increasing list of local, national and international design awards.

Southbrook Vineyards’ hospitality pavilion was awarded the 2009 International Architecture Award; they are termed "the world's most prestigious architecture awards." We join the company of 97 projects from 30 countries including such landmarks as the BMW Museum in Munich, Germany, The Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre in Sydney, Australia and The National Ballet School in Toronto.
