In the Glass

Medium garnet in glass, with high-toned floral notes above aromas of black cherry, damson plum, red & black currant and cedar. Medium plus body, with a moderate volume of fine but persistent tannins. More red than black fruit on palate, with some licorice and roasted herbs on the extended finish. Decant for enjoyment now with grilled and braised red meats, or cellar for 3 to 10 years.

90 points - "This new release was Runner-Up for Best of Show at Gold Medal Plates 2016 in Ottawa. It is a blend a single vineyard organically grown blend of cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc. It shows classic cab franc currant/berry fruit, tobacco and leafy notes with generous, well integrated oak. It is quite full bodied with mid-palate elegance, and it carries surprising depth for this lighter vintage. Best 2018 to 2022ish. Tasted November 2016."

In the Winery

This Estate Grown Small Lot wine is a very small lot made from grapes from our biodynamic and organic vineyard. The grapes were fermented by indigenous yeast over a period of 3 weeks in stainless steel tank. After gentle pressing, settling and racking to French oak barrique, the wine aged for 18 months. Careful barrel selection, blending, and coarse fining before unfined bottling.
