2007 Sauvignon Blanc

Oct 18, 2010

2007 Triomphe Sauvignon Blanc VQA

SOLD OUT/ 750ml (Ontario Price Shown)

Wine Lovers' Notes:

In Print

"Very clean, pungent, fresh and highly fruity, with wonderfully aromatic passion fruit and green tropical fruit, fresh apple, pineapple, highly inviting. Dry, medium body, with ripe fruit up front on the palate that yields quickly to tart green apple acidity that maintains great freshness and juiciness, finishing on lemony notes. Gives great Sancerre or NZ a run for the money".
–John Szabo, wineaccess.ca

"Southbrook's 2007 Triomphe Sauvignon Blanc was what you might call a characteristic wine for the varietal, and over time, it has only opened up with bigger and more exciting notes. The nose comes across a verdant swath of grassy, earthy scents, with a citrus perfume lingering as well. On the palate, the wine combines flavours of berries and citrus fruit with more green, this time perhaps beans or even asparagus.  We liked that the finish on this wine is long with acidity, giving it the body we expect from a Sauvignon Blanc".

In the Cellar

Attaining ripeness in 2007 was never an issue; however selecting the optimal time to harvest for complexity was the challenge with Sauvignon Blanc. This wine is the result of two vineyard blocks from slightly cooler parts of the Peninsula – Vineland Bench and Niagara River Parkway.

Each lot was handled to draw out specific traits, fermented separately in stainless steel, and then blended to create this aromatic wine.
